so, what exactly is pony therapy?

In Pony Therapy, equines (horses or ponies) provide psycho-social, emotional and physical benefits for a variety of people. It proves especially valuable when working with vulnerable groups of children and adults, including those with a mental or physical disability, young or elderly people.

Ponies are sentient beings, and have a special emotional intelligence and tend to mirror humans which can teach us a lot about ourselves, and can bring a variety of benefits.

Pony Therapy sessions can be ground-based or mounted depending on specific individual needs. We have ponies that are particularly good in indoor locations such as care homes and hospitals, and others who teach children to ride/drive. For adults wanting to ride, we also have some horses who can be used for riding lessons and leading outdoors.

We are a residential care home for the elderly, we were visited by Larry and Leo and the ladies ,this was one of the most heart warming activities we have had in our home ,the reactions from our residents was amazing, even residents who do not always react or join in were animated and clearly loved the visit of these two beautiful ponies, their human assistants were amazing too, so friendly and good with our residents ,this is one of the best pet therapies we have had and will certainly be having again. Thank you to the smile team and Larry and Leo !!!

Leo the therapy pony likes to be a unicorn sometimes

Fancy unicorn therapy instead of pony therapy?

Our ponies LOVE fancy dress, so if you’d prefer for us to bring unicorn therapy to your location, please get it touch. Unicorn Therapy can bring all the same benefits as pony therapy, but it’s even more magical for little ones! We can also provide eco-glitter and pony paint to encourage children to get creative - be aware, this may make a mess but it will be lots of fun and give big smiles and happy memories!
